Island Time

Last May my husband Dustin and I went on vacation to Maui. Something we quickly learned was that when in Maui your on “island time”.  One thing that really made us crazy were the speed limits, yes speed limits. No matter where on the island you were, the speed limits were 15 to 45 (at most and not often)mph.  Now for someone who lives their lives always busy and rushing around, “island time” was hard for us.  Something lately that Gods really been trying to teach me is “island time”, OK maybe not island time but certainly Gods time.  Often when God whispers to us, shows us things or  begins to work in us about things we assume he means right now and that isn’t always the case.  Seems like if he doesn’t do what he says he will when we think he should, we begin to give up or question if that is really what he said in the first place. Now only you can know for sure what he’s speaking to you but can I encourage you to not give up so easily.  I have currently been through this season and its hard because you do question his voice or maybe how he can ever work something so big in your life but I’m here to tell you he can and HE will! God recently in my attempt to question him has reminded me of a time, a time when he spoke to me and it was years later that he carried it through. SO here you go.  Dustin (my husband) was working for a company where he was gone every other week and missing out on a lot of things in our life. We had prayed and prayed for something to happen so that he could be home with us, then God spoke to me and said “I’m going to move you”. Now for a small town girl (population 340) that scared me to death. My entire family lives there and there was no way I was going anywhere and besides surely he meant a spiritual move not a physical one. So in March of 2011 I jotted that little note in my journal and tucked it away…Fast forward to January 2014, Dustin has quit that job and was working one even worse where he was away even more and we were both growing weary and needed a change. God spoke to him one night and He quit that job and took a construction job working at home but financially we weren’t gonna make it long.  Still praying and seeking God and in April 2014 he received a call with a job offer for his dream job BUT it required us to move.  Crazy thing is in those 3 years God had prepared our hearts and we knew this was what God wanted and this was the move he told me about all those years earlier.  While it took what seemed like forever and I didn’t understand how it could ever happen, God knew and it happened just when HE was ready. He knew in March 2011 we were not ready so he waited till the right time and then he put it in motion. I could talk for hours about what God has done in our life since our move but I wont lol. Just know it was all at “just the right time”.   My prayer is that this has encouraged you. His time isn’t our time but he is a faithful God in whom we can trust.  I want to leave you with this verse.

Habakkuk 2:3 “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.
